Pruning Tips
Proper pruning of limbs is essential to maintain
tree health, prevent infections by diseases or infestations
by certain insects, improve appearance, and prevent serious
damage to life and property.
Branches can easily be removed by sawing. Sharp
edges, burrs or splinters should be cut with a sharp knife.
Take care not to damage the bark surrounding the new cut.
Do not use an axe or similar tools for pruning.
Special Note: To prevent accidental stripping
of the bark below the limb, it is best to undercut first and
then cut the limb from the top. Prune the limbs or branches
back to the base as flush as possible.
